2003-W First Flight Centennial Commemorative Gold Proof $10 Coin OGP

  
Recently acquired from the original owner from the U. 49 Troy ounce of gold.

2003 was the hundred year anniversary of the new Wright brothers first flight in Kitty Hawk, NC and this coin commemorates that centennial. The obverse of the coin shows Orville and Wilbur Wright and was designed by the US mint engraver/sculptor Donna Weaver. The reverse, also designed by Donna Weaver, shows the 1903 Wright flyer in flight. This gold coin is 16.718 grams in total weight and is made of 90% gold and a 10% alloy of nickel and copper. The mintage on this proof gold coin was a relatively scarce 21,676 coins.
