Description : For sale is the U. This coin comes in brilliant uncirculated condition, was minted at the US Mint's West Point facility, and contains 1/2 troy ounce of 0.9999 fine gold. The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is accompanied by all of its original US Mint packaging (including a wooden clamshell display case, outer cardboard box, cardboard box sleeve, and a certificate of authenticity).

This is the uncirculated, or business strike version of the coin. Fewer uncirculated versions were produced compared to the proof versions of this coin. Only 1,824 of these uncirculated coins were struck, making this the First Spouse coin with the lowest mintage in the First Spouse coin series. The coin with the second lowest mintage is the uncirculated Pat Nixon coin, with a mintage of only 1,839 coins (which we also have up for sale in a separate listing). Since that time, this coin has been lovingly stored in smoke and pet-free home.

Note: While the coin is in uncirculated condition, there are some small red spots (copper spots or other tarnishing) on the reverse of the coin. Obverse: Detailed effigy of Betty Ford. Reverse: The design features a young woman ascending a staircase, representing Mrs. Ford's openness and advocacy regarding addiction, breast cancer awareness and the rights of women.
