Mint's Commemorative Coin Program for 2022 includes a series of coins dedicated to the Negro National League (NNL), the first successful professional baseball league for African American and Latin American athletes. The NNL was established in 1920, during an era of segregated play of the sport, founded by former baseball player Andrew "Rube" Foster. Foster was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981, the first pioneer or executive of the NNL to receive such a recognition.

This 2022 Negro Leagues Baseball Gold Commemorative Coin is a product of the West Point Mint. The coin carries a legal tender value of five U. The coin is minted with a matte [not the mirror proof] finish. The 21.59 mm diameter coin is struck from 0.243 Troy oz. The coin will arrive in its original Mint package.

Obverse: On the obverse, founder of the Negro Nation League, Rube Foster, is depicted, with a replication of his signature located beneath the lapel of his suit jacket.
