Product Description This listing is for the 1987 P-5460 half eagle pattern coin (antiqued silver variety) shown in the pictures. Only 100 of the silver version were minted marked on edge. The NGC grade is MS 66 (only 1 higher in the NGC/PCGS populations) and the certification number is 2616414-001.

More info on this pattern coin from the PCGS website is below. Please use the pictures to determine quality. In 1987, Fred Zinkann produced "Half Eagles" of his own design in the hopes that they might be used for the 1987 Bicentennial of the U. According to Andrew Pollock, Zinkann produced examples in the following compositions and mintages: gold (6); "hafnium" (2); silver (100); and tungsten (88). The designs were never accepted, but Zinkann's "patterns" were listed in Pollock's book and have, therefore, become part of the pattern coin canon.

However, they have not been picked up by Judd in any of the latest editions. This version was struck in silver, then given an antiqued finish. 999 were stamped on the edge.
