The heavy cardboard backed mounting board reads. The 1933 Indian Head Gold Eagle was the very last in the series of gold eagle coins.

The 1933 Gold Eagle was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the leading sculptor of his day and considered by many to be the greatest of all modern sculptors. Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt, Saint Gaudens' designs set a new standard for excellence in United States coinage. Ironically, the treasured 1933 issue was not minted until a quarter of a century after Saint-Gaudens' death. The familiar motto "In God We Trust" -- evident on the reverse of this miniature -- was not included on the first eagles in the series because President Roosevelt objected to the use of the Diety's name on coins. Congress, however, restored the motto in 1908.

The mounting board shows minor bending, representative of the years this item has remained in storage. The mounting is showing some wear, but nothing major. The Certificate of Authenticity, too, shows very slight wear, but the certificate remains in Excellent Condition.
